HELP 1997 F150 key switch stuck

HELP 1997 F150 key switch stuck
Hello anybody....
I had replaced the key switch in my daughters truck and the darn thing is stuck in the off position again. I understand that it needs to be in the on position in order to remove it......please help. I can't get the button up in order to slide the switch out of the cylinder.
Any suggestions are definately appreciated.
