Great to be back!
After more than ten years without a truck I bought a '75 F250 Super Cab Ranger Camper Special. It has been used hard and put up wet many times, including a head-on crash about two years ago. The guy I bought it from, for $400, put good work into rebuilding/replacing the front end parts that needed it. The motor, tranny function well and it drives like a well-used tough old truck should drive - it even smells right! It's visually straight and has plenty of wind noise in the cab from completely dried out rubber and cracked seals. It's set-up for commercial trailer hauling and the chassis still seems tight.
In short - it's perfect! This is my kind of truck and I feel very fortunate to have her. We've already done some heavy hauling (2000 lbs. of gravel) and didn't even break a sweat (well, she didn't) and all lube and fluids have been attended to and are continuously checked. The near future has front bearing packing and a carb rebuild on the agenda.
I'd like to convert to 16" wheels from the 16.5" that I have - but no hurry since I found a full set of matched 16.5" tires for $50!
So,to all fellow enthusiasts out there, it's great to be back!
