Hey all, whats goin on?? I haven't been on here for ahwile, which you can all probably tell, but I found this site, and it is the best information on ford vehicles I have found. Last time I was here I was trying to buy a bronco and it didn't go through, now i have found another Bronco, it is an 89 and tell me if you think it is a good buy.
The power steering pump is out, it has a leaky brake line, it has a miss in the motor, and the A/C is out. The guy I am gonna buy it from seems to know a bit about them and car care and maintenance in general. It needs the quarter panels replaced the bumper replaced and it needs painted, it is the eddie bauer edition with decent wheels and tires, he say other than that everything is in good working/running order. He only wants 1000 dollars cash for it and i am 16 and wouls like to get it, the inside needs cleaned up really bad and with a little TLC I am sure it would be a great vehicle, but i want your opinions. It has a 302 EFI with automatic transmission, let me know what to look for so i know i am not getting a lemon
Find a mechanic in your area that will do on site inspections. Pay the $100 or so for it, it'll be worth it in the end. Thats what I did when I bought my Bronco
If those are the only problems(and the miss in the motor is an easy fix) then it sounds like a good deal. I bought my 88 Eddie Bauer for $3000 and put about $1500 into it(had to get a total brake overhaul for $900 - everything was broken and what wasn't was rigged up by a cheap mechanic and only the front brakes were working with 90% gone on the pads!). But now it runs great and I'm very happy with it.
Hey thanx, i am kind of lucky for only being 16 i am somewhat mechanically inclined, my stepdad is really good at that stuff to, we have both looked it over, i have checked the fram and everything is solid except for the rear fenderwells. he said the miss in it didn't happen till they changed the spark plugs and wires and all the stuff associated with that, he said the brake line leakis tiny, but will need fixed and he priced the power steering pump at 50 dollars at a junk yard here, i have found all the body part replacement panels for under 150, plus i know a guy that will paint it and do a good job for 300 dollars, friends of the family. so i could get it all in top running order for about 1700 dollars i would say i have drove it and jerked back and forth on the drive shafts and it never even moved, it has warn locking hubs up front, so i am guessing the old ones went out, is there anything i am missing with my inspections?? let me know, by the way great forum guys and gals
