i am planning on buying some new tires soon and the optional size for my truck is a 265/75SR16 i want to go bigger. Dunn tire says i can do a 315/75SR16 this is on a 2002 F250 and i am planning on dooing BFG all terrain
This is based on my experience only, but there was no way I could have gotten 315's under my truck stock. It had 285's on it when I bought it w/ no problems. I think the 305's would have rubbed. They're the same height, just a little wider.
It took a 2.5" leveling kit and trimming of the lower plastic valance to fit 315's on my truck. I've heard lots of guys on here say it will work w/ no lift, but on mine, no chance. Every truck is different.
And the wheel DIAMETER makes no difference. The overall height of the tire is unchanged. Now the WIDTH and the OFFSET will make a difference as to rubbing or not.
Also I have 315's on 7" OEM wheels. It's not "recommended", but I hope it's only a temporary situation in my case. They do cause my tires to rub the leaf spring at full lock to the right occasionally. I've experienced no other negative side affects. Just keep em rotated.
