Hi first time user, I have a 2000 F150 4x4 SC 5.4L, Noticed that the transmission shifts hard from 1-2, replaced the trans. oil and filter 40 000km ago, this just started, if you start out and throttle the gas the shift takes too long, rpm climbs to 4000 rpm before shifting, if you ease into the throttle the shift is normal, if you are at hiway speeds and throttle the gas down it neutralizes the trans, until you ease up on it, can any one help!
You need to drive it with a scan tool to watch to see if the PCM is telling the tranny to shift. Have you checked for codes yet?
I have seen the gear selection switch on the tranny go bad and cause some wierd things. The computer doesn't know what gear it is in.
just throwing this out there, but mine was shifting hard from first to 2nd. They said a ring popped off of something in the transmission, and had to replace the torque converter and some other things.
Thanks for the info. I will have to take it in for sure now, the check engine light came on as well and it isn't runing all that good. I am really glad I found this site, thanks for all the info.
Well!!! I found out why the SES light was on # 5 coil was breaking down, so I replaced it but the transmission was something else, the springs by the servo piston broke, and this locked up two clutches at one time thus the I had no choice but to have the transmission rebuilt and new torque installed.
