Tip: Fan removal/water pump
I came up with a nice way to remove the fan/clutch assembly from the water pump on a 3.0. Remove accessory belts. Unbolt the shroud. Unbolt the fan pulley. Thread an appropriate thin cable through one or more holes in the pump's pulley mount. (I used the biggest bicycle brake inner cable I could find, lesser cables snapped quickly). Fasten the loose end of the cable with an available accesory bolt. (I think I used the power steering tensioner). Now you can crank down on the fan shaft and the cable will prevent the pump from spinning. The shaft will unthread from the pump snout, and the fan/clutch can be removed as an assembly. You then remove the shroud and fan assembly in one swoop.
I had no luck with the manual's special tools, (wrong loaner tools),and tightening the accessories didn't work for me.
Watch for left hand thread too if your fan shroud top warns you.

I found that even a little bit of corrosion between the nut and the pump snout can make it nearly impossible to loosen the nut. That's good trick from 250K AS for other less stuborn nuts. For the really bad ones, you might need to fabricate a long handled holder, like for the rear diff pinion flange, and bolt it to the pulley, while using a big wrench on the nut.
