I just got my tax return back and I wanted to get a upgraded torque convertor. I noticed that banks has one and I seen a few more in the last diesel power mag., I have around a grand to spend on it but I will spend more to get the best if I have to. I mostly want it for race, but I will be pulling my race car in the summer, but thats about all the pulling I plan on doing. I have straight pipe, afe stage 2, boost tube, chipped.
im not sure but i think the TC i 1st posted is the same as what BTS uses..dont quote me on that..but BTS builds trans for the guys that pull sled's and race there trucks..nothing but good words about them..i have his valve body and love the shifts it gives..
I am getting my BTS on 7 March, I will let you know. That may be to late if you are in a hurry. But the BTS is the Best recomendation that can be found on the forums. Warranty is solid and you can talk directly with Brian on your troubles and concearns. I have heard nightmare stories on ATS and others on there warranty replacement proceedures. Just do your own research and you will see. Just my 2 Cents.
but, if your not going that route, just do the BTS valve body, and the TC listed above, its the same one brian uses in all their trannys, though, i had seen it listed elsewhere for $900 a month ago.
Either go BTS or just go with the VB. A trans with miles is in danger of breaking. What if it breaks? Where do you think the debris goes? You will have to cut the TC apart to get it totally cleaned. I'd wait till it broke or just get a BTS trans with a new TC. That is what BTS recommended after I got the VB from him. Makes sense if you ask me.
BTW, after the diode locked up which was about a month after I installed the VB, BTS gave me credit for the VB towards the trans. This was even after he knew that there was burnt fluid in the trans and all that wonderful debris.
I would really like to get the whole tranny but I dont know how much time I have before I have to remove the tranny anyways. See the tranny is starting to leak and kinda needs to have the gasket replaced on it, and I have noticed that my TC has been kinda slipping, I just dont feel the power like I should. What usually goes out in these trannies? I have around 155k on the truck, when do you usually see failure in the trannies?

Some people get tons of miles like yours, most start going in the 70K range from what I have gathered and a few have gone quick, under the 36K warranty and then only to have the replacement from ford last another 20 before it goes. So if you are asking me, I'd say you are running on borrowed time and if you think it is slipping some, I would recommend you start considering what you are going to to when it does break. BTS is very good, those with his tran are very satisfied, excellent customer service as well. There are a lot of threads that talk all good. I cannot recall a thread with something bad about BTS in it.
FYI - The BTS converter is a Precision Industries Stallion, it is a multi disc billet converter and I think Brian prices them a little over $1100. I put one in my truck with the valve body from BTS, and it's been holding up fine under quite a bit of abuse. Personally I think with a good converter and valve body the transmission is much improved.

Yes it is. However, with a trans that has seen some miles, the chances of it breaking are higher than say a fresh BTS unit. I have used the PI TCs before and at their price, I will only put them on a fresh trans.
