I am putting new ball joints on my 2000 F-250 4x4 Powerstroke. I have reached the point where i need to torque the lower ball joint. I cant tighten it up because the middle keeps spinning. It has a slot in the moog ball joint that i am using but it is too big for a flathead screwdriver. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Again. The info I have got off of this forumin the past has been a tremedous help.
I did jack up the bottom of the ball joint but it kept spinning when i would turn it with my wrench. I only lifted it off the jackstand about an inch. do you think that wasn't enough or is there another trick. Thanks again
yes, you jacked it up enough. have you tightened up the top balljoint all the way?? if not, try that. also, you might want to pull the knuckle off and examine the lower balljoint threads to make sure they look good. try to hand screw the nut on the lower balljoint.
If putting pressure with the jack doesn't work, I have cut and ground an old screwdriver to fit the slot to get them to tighten up. If I remember correctly, Moog lower ball joint nut is a lock nut so it goes on hard.

Thanks for all of the help. I did tighten the upper. the lower is fine it has a locknut. That is what is keeping it from spinning freely. I ll try grinding up a screwdriver tomorrow thanks again for all of the help.
