If you run a CarFax or similar report on the VIN, you can often tell if the vehicle mileage is accurate. The current mileage by date is usually on these reports for registrations and state inspections. Depending on your area, the information may be more robust than others.

So 533,664 miles seem kind of low for a secondhand 1990 truck? Did I miss something? Do you have an extra number in there?

There's no way to know for sure whether the odo has rolled over or not, but there are some clues. The most common one to look at is the brake pedal. If the bottom right corner is just slightly worn, then it's likely 53k. If it's worn smooth, think 153k, and if there's metal showing, you're probably pushing the 253k mark. Wear and tear in the driver's area are the best clues you'll get. Even the '92+ trucks rolled over at 400k, with the 6-digit (no tenths) odos (you can see on the self-check at startup that there is no line in the upper left of the first digit--a digital '4' would be the first numeral to need it).

the brake pad may have been replaced so that is not always a good indication of anything.

where did you get the first 5 from? the odo in that year does not have one.
