ive got a 1988 bronco. its got an inline 6 in it. all of my friends tell me that if i got a regular exhaust system put on it, it would sound good. ive also had people tell me that you cant really do anything except get a bigger, 302 or 351, put in it. i cant do that because of the price. if anyone knows what i could do to get my i6 loud, without spending a lot of money, i'd really appriciate it.
My best guess would be to staright pipe it from beheind the cats or replace the muffler with a cheap glasspack. once you have installed the glasspack drive your bronco around and get the exhaust good and hot, shut down your engine, then stich a garden hose up your tailpipe and let her rip. this will crack all the fiber glass in the glasspack causing a staright pipe
Don't make it sound like a RICE ROCKET!!!!! get a Flowmaster muffler and get a decent rumble. Glasspacks are out went out in the 70's they are just annoying noise now.
my 2c a good rumble sounds better than an all out loud truck.
The two cats on the inline six muffle enough. I took the muffler off my f150 I6 and it did not make any difference in sound. The flowmaster 40s sound pretty good, but you will need to replace the 2nd cat to get any sound out of it.
