Hey Everyone, I was just wondering how long it took you to install your AFE stage 2 air kit. I got mine and were getting snow here. I just wanna know I wont be out there the whole day while its snowing trying to get it installed. It doesnt look dificult but those are the ones that give you the most trouble usually.
Took me about an hour and I am not near the mechanic that some of the guys here are. The biggest pain was because of my lift and having to stand on a stool or the tire.
I didn't look at the clock, but if I had to guess, I'd say it was around an hour for me too.
I was in no hurry, and in fact I really took my time and checked out other stuff while I was under the hood, eyeballing how the zoodad would go if I did it, checking out the turbo (this is my first diesel) etc.
i to took my time cleaning the ccv mess up and cleaning every thing under the old air box and putting electric greese on wire conectors under there..i did it under 2 hours..big differnts in power too..your going to love it..

you will be very pleased..i got my AFE with a pro-gaurd 7 filter cause being up north here they use a lot of salt on the roads and the dust from it is very fine..just got my oil tested and it said the air filter is working great..ppm of 7 down from a 9 i got last fall with a K&N and no salt dust..yes gauges are a MUST!!!! pyro, boost and trans temp if you have an auto..after that you are ready for a DP tuner and again if you got an auto..a BTS valve body in the trans makes a great combo with the DP tuner..brian and jody has worked on this set up and with the tunes of hp and shift points all the HP is on the ground...you will have a grin that will never quit....
most of us run this exhaust system http://stores.ebay.com/MKO-DIESEL-PERFORMANCE works great and sounds awsome..i painted it black with stove paint be for the instal so it wouldnt rust..so far so good..still looks new..he also has some air boxes..

Depends on what you want. You can do the intake and the exhuast without having to install guages and a chip at the same time and you will still notice an increase in performance, that's how I did it. Trust me on this though, once you do the intake and an exhaust the PMS will set in and you will be looking at what's next. Happened to me with both of my PSDs and I am still going.
Where in NorCal are you? While I am in Texas right now I am originally from Vallejo, NorCal....
I am looking at getting the AFE stage 2 for my 99 PSD I have a question does AFE have an aluminum intake tube to replace the plastic one? Basically what AEM has for their tube. Thanks
Thanks for the replys. I was gonna install it yesterday, but my buddy's wife had an accident. Too cold and Icy here today to even think about installing it. Next time it hits 35 when the sun is shining Im on the Job. Im off the whole winter and I usually work inside my house on projects not outside in the cold.
