HELP transmission troubles
hi all have what may be a big problem. got in my truck last night went and got some gas and everything worked great. warmed her up this morning thawed out all the windows jumped in put her in 2nd and heard a metal on metal scraping sound followed by a hi pitched scraping sound. that was in first, second and reverse. Had to get to work so i babied it and popped it into third and not a sound out of it. never got into fourth this morning short drive and really bad roads. I have a np435 trans that as far as i know is 35+ years old and has never had anything done to it besides an ocasional oil change.
i have another np 435 i pulled from a 79 but the guy i bought it from told me first and reverse were almost gone. how hard are these things to rebuild???

They are very plentiful around here where I live. (Washington State) Unless you have a burning desire to rebuild one, you may be better off finding a good used one. I have a perfectly good one sitting in a '67 f250 in my drive way waitin for the hulk hauler guy. I have three others and do not want to store another. Free to you or anyone who wants it.. I pulled all the sheet metal off the front of the truck plus the engine so it's easy to get to. Its got a good dash pad and all the exclusive '67 dash parts are there..Radio too. Good 3/4 ton rear end but if you want that, you gotta take the whole thing. Located in Yelm,Washington.
