Hi. I'm originally from western Pa. I've been living in Washington DC. for about 20 years. I'm seriously thinking about buying this 1974 F250 Ranger. It has a 390 four barrel in it, and three speed on the column, 184,000 miles on the body and 30,000 on a new engine that was shipped from the ford factory in 1994. It has been part of an apolstery co. used as their delivery truck. It was moved into the third position in the 90's and not used much since. Seems like a good history. The owner wants $2500.00 for it. An employee said he has an offer of $2000.00. My hesitation is this: I live in the city of DC. I can have it tagged historic, but I have to get it to pass emisions once, or spend at least $750.00 on trying to have the emisions updated. And spending the money with an emision certified mechanic - whatever that is. I t could pass but I don't even know if these truck would pass modern emisions standards new from the factory. Does anyone know? I figure the $750 on the exhaust and probably new brakes. I could feel the pedal getting a little soft as I drove it. Might get $3500.00 into it but I think it would last a good bit after that. Does anyone have any experience or advice. I really want to buy this truck, But I need it as a work truck to put about 25 to 35 miles a day 5 days a week for a least a year hopefully ten. Do I need somebody to talk some sense into me? Damn I can't figure how to get the picture up. Trust me its in nice shape.

If it`s in really nice I would be very much tempted as nice ones are hard to find.
