green

My dad brought up a good question for me to post about our trailer wiring. On all our connections (mainly the 4 round prong flat ones) they get corrosion build up and its like green stuff all over it. Our 7 prong ones that are for the trailers with brakes dont get nearly as bad. We sometimes clean them with a small wire brush but we cant clean them good enough. Any tips or tricks for cleaning the trailer wire plugs would be appreciated. Thanks

After you get it clean, put the connector in a sandwich baggie and tie-wrap it closed.

If you don't treat it yesterday it will corrode to the point of uselessness. I know this because I NEVER treat them with dielectric grease after the first time and they always go bad as soon as the grease gets washed out from rain. And no, the nice caps for the fourplugs never last very long.

I replace them every other year on my trucks because I'm absent minded and I rarely use them.

Thanks for the info on the 7way plugs. I will get some tomorrow and keep the weather out.
