Now my steering wheel is off by about a quarter of a turn. The truck tracks straight but the steering wheel is off. Do I need to install a drop pitman arm or can I just adjust to center it back up. Also will an alighment shop do the adjustment when I take it in for an aligment.
Don't pull the wheel. You will disturb the SRS clock spring, and the airbag will not work. I don't actually think it will go back on that way, it has an alignment pin that will prevent this.
After you lifted it, you will find that the turning radius has been compromised. (only to one side) Try making a u- turn both directions, and you will see what I mean. The drag link is too short now, and the wheel is off. You can adjust this, and yes the alignment shop can do this, or you can do it yourself. Look at the drag-link, and notice the coupler (threaded sleve), this is where you will make the adjustment. It will not have any effect on the alignment, only steering wheel. Do make sure that you leave enough threads to make a safe coupling. You do not want this to fall off. If you try to fix this by installing a drop pitman arm without lowering the trac bar, the truck will suffer from bumpsteer. the trac-bar, and the drag-link must be parrallel. This is why a full lift- kit comes with all of the components in a slightly more expensive package. Did you extend your sway-bar links?
Right now I have my swaybar disconnected. I am waiting for the extended links to come in. I also have the drop bracke so I can install it if i need to. I shouldn't need the sway bar to align the truck, right?
Yeah I have it in for alignment right now. I should have it tonight if I get out of work tonight and then I will post some. I went the other way and went from just the mini pack to both.
