I`m not sure if this is the right place for this but can someone tell me what a mid 70`s 390/C6 go for? The 53 F100 I`m getting has one and I`m not planning to reuse it. I`ve always been a chevy guy so I don`t know what these set ups are worth. I`m not trying to sell it now so this isn`t a "for sale " ad. I just want to know what the price range is.
Well stick around, we'll convert ya. If both are in working order with relatively low miles...50-80,000 on them then I would think around $350-500 but thats just a guess.
If it's a truck tranny plus 390 it has value to a Ford truck member, hang on someone will answer. I would take it for my 72 (360) i'm about to pick up for my son but my back is acting up plus i'm in the middle of a valve job on my 68 CS.
I should be picking up the truck by the end of the month, long story. I`ll get some numbers off of it and see exactly what it is that I have and then post it in the classifieds. I`ve heard some good things about the motor but it`s just not the way I want to go with the truck.
I picked up my 390 for $300. I was told later by a guy who rebuilds mustangs that i got that engine for a steal. Guess the seller could have sold it for around $600.Dont know the price of a tranny but my C-6 was priced at $175 and people wanted it but no one bit on it.

Well around here in the middle of the woods and Chevy and Mopar country..you can get a running (depending) on mileage and a C6 for about $500 from any bone yard! They will fire the motor prior to sale..but your on you won with the trans!!
I bought a '75 360 and a C6 on ebay for $30. Yep, thirty dollars. All the parts are good, but I'm ditching the 360 crank and rods for some 390 parts. The transmission worked when it was removed from the truck, the tranny pan is relatively clean, and the fluid doesn't smell burnt. Good rebuildable parts.
If you'd try that 390/C-6 combo before pulling it, you'd be a changed man. Not only will it run rings around a small block Chevy, it's amazingly similar in build. Same oiling system, same distributor clamp, same firing order, same valve layout too , I think.
