2000 Explorer XLT
Approximately one year ago had stalling at idle. Ford shop indicated it was IAC valve and after opening to replace also stated 'intake' needed 'de-carbonizing'. At the time was recovering from surgery so told them to go ahead. $400 plus later car ran good until recently. Now it idles between 1500 and 2000 RPM. Different Ford dealer has now charged me $321 for intake leak and replace temp valve and thermostat. Engine is idling better now though at start it races 2500+ for several seconds and- after warm up - temp gauge fluctuates over wide range. Any thoughts other than I need to find a dealer with better mechanics! Thanks.
