I am looking at replacing my current intake, I am thinking of either the AEM Brute Force, the new AEM Work Horse, or the AFE stage 2.
1. Oilless filter cause I am tired of oiling my current one (K&N FIPK), no performance problems, or any dirt sneaking past.
2. Aluminum tubing, I am planning on running a 100 wet shot of Nitrous later and I dont think the plastic intake tubing will be good enough, plus I think the aluminum intake tubing looks alot better. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated. Thanks guys
I have an aFe and their quality is top notch. You'll notice that most Diesel Performance places carry them over AEM. That should tell you something right there. I bought two proguard 7 filters to ease the pain and rush of cleaning and oiling. The pro dry filters weren't out yet when I bought mine. Most people that have them say if you really want to get them clean you need to wash them in soap and water. The big advantage is if you're in a real dusty place on vacation or wheelin' and need to knock some dust out right then.
I would go aFe over any other manufacturer because they are a proven time tested company.
I also like the AFE stage 2 with the pro-guard 7 filter..with all the fine salt dust flying around in the air especially when I'm behind a big truck..my turbo is clean and black stone oil test came in with a 7 ppm on the silicon..down from a 9 I had last fall with no salt dust and with a K&N filter..im very pleased with my choice..plus and added bonus is the turbo whistle you get from it...
I have heard nothing but good things about the AFE stage 2 w/ Proguard, does it come with aluminum tubing or is that something I will have to fab? Also is it oilless as well?
Thanks for the reply
