Tires
I ran BFG AT KO's on my Range Rover with over 50,000 miles on them and they were great in the snow. I replaced them with a set of Interco Trxus tires which produced more noise, but performed great both on and off road. Snow, ice, mud, they were great. Currently I am running BFG MT KM's on the SD and they are alright, but I think the BFG AT's were better. When they wear out I am considering either Toyo or Nitto AT's as something different to try out.
Bill my experience has been that for on road use a AT tire that has a lot of siping cut in the tread perform better than a MT tire. I would look for one that is severe weather rated like the BFG AT too.
BTW gang, I finally took the plow off of the truck. I hate driving to and from work with that thing on it. We had a light dusting of snow last night, but it doesn't look like I will need the plow for awhile.

Hi gang
thanks for sharing your thoughts on tires.. I think the BFG A/T's deserve a long look from all the comments I have read.. I will also look at Cooper's
Someone mentioned that at 38K miles I might be expecting too much from my REVO's.. maybe that was the insight I needed.. I truly expected to get more useable miles from these premium tires... By useable I mean in snow/slush/rain. The available tread is 6/32.. when new, the tread was 16/32.
As an example, I had to go to the airport late Sunday night when we were getting hit with more snow in Rochester.(4"-6") the highway wasnt plowed much yet and salt not applied in most places..It was slick and lots of heavy white stuff under the tires.. I took my son's honda with blizzacks rather than my Excursion. Even in 4wd the truck moves all over the place... I may never live that one down!
thanks again...

rut roh.... what have I started ?? We might all loose our posting privledges now! lol
I remember driving a 1973 VW bug, manual tranny, with big a$$ snow tires... Despite having to scrape ice from INSIDE the window due to lack of blower (the heater / defroster only blew air when driving) this car NEVER got stuck!!
