specs on 83 ford bronco
i may be buying an 83 bronco. all i know now is its a 4.9 str8 six and manual 4 spd tranny. manual front hubs. anybody know what axles or tranny/transfer case was factory? any other specs or opinions on this vehicle are welcome... Ray

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Nov-02 AT 09:53 PM (EST)]All '80-96 Broncos have the Dana 44IFS front axle. Mine was a Custom (lowest trim level) and it had the NP-435 transmission and NP-208F t-case. It had the Ford 8.8" rear axle, but the Ford 9" was also used at that time. Get the VIN & the codes from the bottom line of the door sticker (especially axle & transmission) when you look at it.
'83 was the first year for the good tailgate catches and possibly the last year for non-feedback carb and metal radiator tanks. Sliding side windows were optional but rare, as were rear jump seats.
