compression test

today i did a compression test on my truck and replaced all the glow plugs with motorcraft plugs, boy do i know what yall were talking about when it has t do with autolite plugs, i caught nine kinds o hell trying to get them out the head. three of them were beru plugs came out wit no problem. 5 were autolites and everyone of them were swole up on the ends. just glad i got all of them out without any breaking. my question i have is what is a normal reading for the compression on a 6.9, and does these sound alright #1-400, #3-400, #5-410, #7-395, #2-400, #4-395, #6-398, #8-400 ?

Those numbers sound good. Just tested mine last week (93 F-350 DWR 7.3 IDI Factory turbo 281000 mi.) i got between 330 and 350 psi in all cylinders. By the way not an easy test with the turbo, it pretymuch has to be removed to test the last 2 on pass side. Got to fix the exhaust leaks so it was worth it.

I just did mine, with 240 000 miles mine was between 425-475 all the way... suspect the lowest one ( 425 ) was where my head gasket leak will be

Right here, your numbers are good, so there was not much to say after Kevins comment.

Well the book comp test shows 195 minimum and 440 tops... why I don't know.

Main point is the lowest MUST be within 75% of the highest.......

What's most impressive about your numbers, Mr. Tate, is that they are so even. A compression test like that is better than an "A" on a report card!
