Engine swap

I have a 1978 F 250 4x4 camper special auto. I want to sawp out for a 6.9 and a 5 speed standard. I bought an 88 F 350 2wd with a 6.9 and a 5sp. How hard would it be to swap them out? I have not been able to find any information on this matter, and if any one has any upgrade ideas that I can do while I am in the process?

The 78 only has 80,000 miles on it and it is in execlent shape. I want to keep the truck, but it is the only truck I own with out a ford diesel in it. Any help, info or suggestions would be great. Thanks

honestly, it shouldnt be as hard as it is putting a 6.9/C6 into a 1970, if you look at my post a few posts down, youll see a picture, the hardest problem ive run into so far was getting the motor to sit high enough to clear the steering rods and get it past the cross member.......then again, i put it in with the tranny bolted up to it, but you should have enough room with the 78 being a 4x4 and all....... the 88 has a hydralic clutch that you will have to take from the 88 and mount onto the 78..... all in all, ive spent about 2 weeks so far, and almost have everything ready to go to fire it up! if you have any other questions, feel free to ask, and ill try to answer.......also, i hope you have a welder and a set of full bottled torches!
