While fixing my brake light problem i noticed something
My driver siderear shock mount on the frame has rusted and broken apart.
Truck has always been a rough ride so i didnt notice till now.
Questions:
1. Is it fixable?
2. Is it worth fixing
3. Since i don't use the truck to haul anything just a beater for the snow is it ok to drive till i have time to fix? The leak springs seem to holding up fine.
yes, it's fixable, i'm pretty sure you can get new ones. i wouldn't drive it alot though, but my other truck bounced all over the place when i didnt have the shocks bolted in. don't ask about that one.
i purchased used ones from a company in north carolina. he buys and sells used southern auto parts at a fair price. can't remember what i paid, but they are the exact same thing i had only 100% better. there maye pics in my gallery but i can't remember. i know new ones are hard to find and very expensive. i've also seen them on ebay.
The shock mount is still available from Ford. If you do a search on this forum, you can find a thread with the part number in it. If I remember correctly, the parts guy told me ( with a surprised look on his face ) that is is the same as is used on the 97s.
