I just test drove a King Ranch F450. Great to drive one, I think all of you should! They had 3 2008 SD's on the lot.
Has anyone else noticed that the King Ranch Leather is different? My wife has a Expedition and my son-in-law F150 both have King Ranches. Their leather is real nice, like saddle leather. The Super Duty had a red leather, not the nice brown. The King Ranch logo is just stamped into the center console, not stitched in like the others. I didn't like the SD nearly as well. My wife said it might be a leather that will hold up better, I don't know. Anyone?
Well Rich I to test drove an '08 KR 6.4 today and noticed the leather appears to be a lot different. Just hope it holds up better than the brown leather. I currently own an '04 KR 6.0 and the leather in it is non-forgiving. The cab noise from the engine and outside noise whilem driving was pretty non-existant. The shift points seem to come a bit soon but rode extremely well. The bed extender and tail gate step are really nice also.
IN ALL SD TRUCKS...LOOK AT THEFINE PRINT !! IN THE BROCHURE!!!!!!! there is no REAL!!! leather..just hat is termed phaus leather... a man made replacement that is suppossed to wear better than the real thing...we have it in our 07 lariat... $1200 option for frickin #$%^&**&^% VINYL!!!!!!! looks and feels like vinyl... naw.. the customer would never notice the old switcherooooo.
You can go to the king ranch leather site and read all about it. King Ranch markets a variety. The leather in the 08s is Chapparal leather which is suppose to not need as much care the the previous leather used with was Casteno (spelling).
I was at Still-Terhar Ford in Broomfield. One of the three was sold, one F350 Crew cab short bed and the F450 KR were not (as of Sat morning).
So it was interesting that they changed the leather. It may hold up better. I'm not going to order the KR because I need a front bench. I just always liked the finish of my Expedition. It is great to have a site like this to find things out fast. Thanks.

I think the "premium vinyl" holds true for the rear seat in the ext. cabs. Crew cabs are different AFAIK. Though it still sucks that ford felt they neded to cheese out on the rear bench.
I just looked an 08 350 KR, and the leather does look kind of red. May be the new batch this year. Not sure on the 08 though, sorta fancy inside for a 350 or 250. Now before you say that's a KR, I have a 250KR and a 350KR, so it is moving into the feminie look. Uh oh did I say the wrong thing. Just kidding, fancy interior, just don't know????????????????????
I'd say that it's more of an orange-brown color. I have the KR, I tried taking pictures of it to post, but the flash in the dark just washes it out and you can't tell. I'll be taking some pictures this weekend and posting to my gallery. I'm hoping for some sun.
Yep, daughter loves it, plenty of room to store her treasures. One thing I discovered that I'm not too happy about. In my old F-150, there were hidden doors behind the seats that I kept my tow straps, bungee cords, tarp, etc in and I put a generic tool kit and jumper cables under the seats. Now I'm trying to figure out where to put all that "stuff" so the back doesn't look cluttered.
