radiator replacement
The radiator in my 88 Eddie Bauer just let go. Looks like a hole in the side plastic tank. I think my radiator has the "oil cooler" in the radiator, at least that is what the haynes manual seems to show. Is this an engine oil cooler or transmission fluid cooler? I think I'm going to replace the radiator with a modine radiator from Napa. How much engine oil or transmission fluid does the tank in the radiator hold, so I know how much to replace? 88 EB 302, AOD. Thanks.

you should only need antifreeze....the tranny fluid will flow threw seperate tubes inside the radiator to cool it down but it doesnt contain, or "hold" tranny fliud or motor oil inside the radiator.HTH Ray

In addition to what has been said, the only way you would NOT have transmission cooler lines running to the radiator is if by some chance you have a manual tranny. If you are careful when you pull the old radiator, you won't lose enough tranny fluid to worry about it. You will have to disconnect/reconnect them but thats all.
