I went out and got some pictures of the truck this weekend. I am thinking about making an offer. $1500. I dont think they will bite, but let me know what you think. The pictures are in my gallery, under "thinking of this one."
If you get that for $1500.00 you willhave done pretty well. I would pay a bit more if it is a runner and can be driven right away. Maybe $2500 - $3000. Others may disagree but it's hard to find a runner in that good a shape down here.
I agree that the $5000.00 they were/are asking is a bit much. You can get a pretty nice older restoration or almost complete restoration for as little as $8,000.00 if you look around some.
Make the offer, it's been there a month. You might be the only guy who didn't laugh and leave. I see that truck all day long and wish it had a good home. Here's what I've done in the past. Acknowledge that your offer is lower than the asking price, and that someone may come along sometime and pay his price, but it won't be you. Leave your contact info with your offer and tell him in a few months if he hasn't sold it at his price your offer will still be good. He may call you months later, or he may call in 15 minutes. If you have to raise your price alittle your still getting a good deal. If you get the truck, lets us know.
The truck is in better shape than what I pictured. $5000 is a bit much but I would say it would bring $2000-$3000 easy. It is a very good truck to start with. The floor looks like it is original to me. Think about it. The truck runs!! You don't find them like that everyday. I don't think it will be there very long b/c someone will pay for it to have a good truck like that to build. I believe if he didn't take your $1500 offer I would go up some. I would think about it real hard before it got away. Scott
Well, I went in and made my offer. They said the guy wouldnt budge at all on his price. He is trying to get what he put into it out of it, the engine rebuild and the tires. So I said my good day, and left. So I will just keep my eye out, and see what is out there. Thank you all for the info, it was a good deal of help.

Your seller is being ridiculous. That's like holding out to sell a 6-12 month old car for what you paid for it new. You made the right call. Perhaps rhopper's new find will be the one.
I agree. What sucks about this is it's like a couple of people I've ran into lately...they are so stubborn on their price that they would sooner let the truck rust into oblivion rather than part with less than they want. That or the guy that won't sell because "he's about to start fixing it up." Yeah, well it's been on your lot for 7 years and hasn't moved anywhere except for sinking lower in the dirt. Let someone rescue it! Sorry, got a rant going there.
I always love the guy that says he's going to fix up the truck that he's letting sit outside to get worse. Three years later, it's still there untouched.
