Well, today i was sitting at a light in my 1991 F.150, it has 3/4 ton springs on the back with helpers, and i luckily had my 4" drop hitch with 2" ball still on the truck, all of a sudden boom!, my truck shudders and slides forward a couple of inches, so i look behind me and sure enough, a little S-10 is now made itself one with my truck, so i put it in park and shut the truck off and got out, i made sure the lady was ok, she was ok and i witness called the police. The police called a tow truck cause her radiator was now twisted crushed metal, id say the truck is close to being totaled cause the hitch went right threw the radiator and probably hit the block, it took the fireman a couple minutes to seperate the trucks but they did and i drove away from the scene, the damage, my back bumper is a little crooked, my trailer hookups were ripped off, what all caused this you ask, one of the s-10s front brake lines failed and they estimated sahe hit me doing 20-25 mph, thank god i was in my truck and not the family taurus
Glad that no one was hurt. Must be that time of the year. I had a women pull out in front of me in my 1986 F150 4X4 with a Plow. Last thursday night. God I loved that truck. I hit her doing about 35 MPH. The plow took most of the inpack and bent the front frame with inpact. No one got hurt but now I'm out of a great truck
Sure it was a 86. But I had a nice 351W built up under the hood.
Sorry to hear about the loss. I was rear ended about 5 years ago. By that time I was in love with the truck, so I was pretty upset. It was a full size dodge van, with boots on front to keep it from getting damaged if it rear ended someone. The boots rode up onto my bumper and into my tailgate, causing more damage then it should of. And on top of that, she ended up bending her front quarter pannel. But I did end up getting almost a thousand dollars for the damage, and one $50 tailgate from a junkyard, and I was just fine. I hope it is salvageable, those trucks are great.
Ive been rear ended 3 times. 1st 89 F150 400 miles brand \new. Hit at 45 miles hour my passenger and I's head popped out rear slider inn one piece. Spare was wedged on top axle. Removed spare. drove home took new back cab ,bed side, bumper. Best truck ever had. other was old bronco I parked on hill (st.) went back out and guys 4 houses up parked truck hand slide on ice and pushed me 100ft It was sitting 20 ft from main 4 line st. . Hit square just small dent in bumper. 2 weeks latter Got rear ended at light . The trailer hitch save me .I sold bronco didn't want to see #3. Glad you are ok and truck is going to make it.
These are all perfect examples of why you should NEVER drive your truck around without the rear bumper !!!!!!! Man, what a mess that would have been in any of the above cases !!!!
