Heaters fixed!!!!
Changed it out in the summer so I wonder if it was clogged from the get go! Anyway, I put the new one in and now I have nice toasty heat. Thanks again! Lots of good info here for my old Bronco. It's an 89 Eddie Bauer with 256,000 miles on her! Never had the tranny out and only motor work besides the bolt on stuff, altenator, water pump, has been an oil pan gasket and a timing cover gasket, couple of ignition modules and a new driveshaft. Valve covers or intakes never been off! Knock on wood
As a side note though,I noticed checking the two heater core hoses for heat only works after the first couple of minutes of start up. My heater core was plugged solid and if you checked the hoses after 15 or so minutes, both were hot due to the residual heat transffering through the water.

unhook tubes(they will spill so make sure vehicle is not hot!), and then just pull off glove box, and there are 7 screws? for the heater core case, pull out and replace. will probably take 15 minutes to do all this and cost $15 at autozone.
This is all for a 1988, but I'm sure they are all the same or similar.

You know...I was just reading this thread and I am so glad that I got my 89 bronco. My last truck, still sitting in the driveway collecting dust, was an s-10. I had to replace the heater core in that s-o-b last year. I tell you what..it didn't cost me some $15 and it darn sure didn't take 15 minutes!!
(S-10 heater core)In my s-10 I had to dismantle to whole dash and roll it into my lap and reach between the windshield and the rolled dash with one hand and pull in and lift up! That was after I found some "Hidden" bolts inside the engine compartment!
Sure am glad to hear the bronco is that much easier!! If only all vehicles were that easy...
