I own a 1995 Bronco. I want to take it to an event called memorial day 4x4 fest at the trollhaugen resort in dresser wi,i'm from MN. I was wondering where could I get a roll bar for it, I was told i don't need a cage. How much would a shop charge to install it? I don't have a welder or the time to do it. Also what do you guys reccommend I do for tow hooks in the front and rear.
Thanks in advance.
you prolly dont need a roll cage but wouldnt it be an extra bit of comforting assurance?? look through j-yards, you'd be surprised what you can find in the back of old trucks and jeeps. if you can get ahold of some jeep wranglers and CJ models they almost always had some sort of bar. i doubt they will bolt in and look wonderful but they will do the trick.
stay very far away from hooks! i have straightened out way too many playin in the mud! make sure you got a goooood front bumper and either A) weld on some d-rings (rated at 20,000 lbs or more) OR B) buy and weld on some 1" thick tabs with a hole in the middle so you can use shackles on the front!
Northern Tools recently had anchors for hydraulic pistons on sale for about $30. Basically 1" steel Ts with a hole for the piston mounting perfect for welding to a thick front bumper.
You can buy cage kits for a Bronco and then have someone weld it up that does race cages at a speed shop. I think the place for the rollcage kits was called SW something. I will have to look it up later.
