Am I crazy?

I have a pretty crazy idea and would like to run it by all of you to see what you think. I have a '77 f-250 highboy, and I'm wanting to put a 1998 f-150 supercab body on the 77 frame. I have lined both trucks up and the wheelbase is the exact same, so I think it might work. Ofcourse before I do this I will have the frame sandblasted and painted as well as the axles, and a new suspension. All that probably sitting on 39 inch boggers. Eventually I want to put a 5 speed with mounted transfer case and run that into the np 205 already in the truck. Don't ask me why I want to do this I just have it in my head to make a solid axle '98 bodystyle 4x4. Tell me what you guys think.

That sounds awsome to me as I also have a 98 super cab. What about all of the body mounts matching up?

You nailed it, the tricky part is going to be the body mounts, espescially since I'm using a highboy with a narrow frame. I haven't figured out how that's going to work just yet. It's either switch bodies, or take the '98 2x4 I already have, and turn it into a 4x4. But that's just as much work if not more. Besides I want to keep the 2 wheel drive the way it is. I could sacrifice the
'77. It's a dream, but I'm in the process of looking for a newer body to see how much this is going to cost me going this route. Thanks for the input!

well first you get really crazy and convert the 4x2 to a straight axle 4x4... with coilovers in the front... now that would be sweet

I have thought of that, but I'm looking at overall cost effectiveness. I could 4 link it with coilevers, but the drivetrain is all wrong. Motor tranny, and rear axle. All of which are pretty wore out. That's why I want to use the 77 frame and chasis. Don't have to mess with much there, and will be a perfect platform for a future F.I. motor, 5 speed and dual transfer case setup. I'm not sure what rout I'm going to choose. I really thought I had something when I thought about the idea of switching cabs. I have thought about using the body off the 98 ford I already have, and buying another f150 4x4 like it to replace its use but dont want another truck payment.
