I thought I'd post a poll thread to give us an idea of what style/year trucks the Ontario chapter folks tend to drive. Personally I love the older trucks, I can work on them my self, no emissions, cheap insurance and best of all no payments!
One day I'd like to buy a '52. I know I'm a minority as most seem to have trucks less than 10 years old.
I'm very curious to see what the trend is. If you own more than one truck check off whatever applies. I used the year breakdowns for full size pick-ups, no offense to ranger, bronco or SUV owners.
I have to agree with you Frank. Aside from having a little more love for the older trucks (I've got an `85 F150) then the newer, I have to go with you on your reasons. No e-test to worry about, I can easily play backyard mechanic, and cheap insurance.
I didn't have a chance to learn about the whole fuel injection thing when I was taking auto back in highschool, so I avoid it when possible. Gimme a carb and I'm a happy camper. Then, all the brains that the newer vehicles have ... OMG.
I love my old trucks Frank as you well know but I voted for my 2001 F150 7700. The thing is such a mule, when it comes to getting dirty and getting 20MPG you can't beat it. I'm yanking stuff thats been sitting in holes 10 years with a foot of snow on the ground and that sucker gets the job done. For show and go.... my 1974 for sure but everyday working the F150 hands down.
