Powersteering help

OK boys here's the story, i was getting a sqeal from the serpentine belt, so this morning I went and took the belt off, and wiggled all the pulleys to find the culprit. It turns out that the powersteering unit took a dump, the shaft, not the pulley, moves 1/2- 3/4" in and out, but no side to side play noticeable.

My question : I remember reading about a shim kit, but i couldn't find the trhead in the search, will this work in my situation? If not what is the procedure to R&R the pump, I know the pulley is press fit so will I need special tools?

Also where is the best place to find a pump? I havent called NAPA yet , but they tend to be expensive around here.

THANKS!

I got one from oreillys around 60 bucks with lifetime waranty. They also have the remover and installer tools.

I have seen them with about 1/8" of play but never that much.

Also that pulley is only good for two presses so after you pull it off and reinstall it, the next time it will need to be replaced.

Thanks Alan,

I know I can find the part, but I didn't know if there was any trick to it?
