04-07 Ford F-150 Owners. What is your average brake life? I had an 03' F-150 FX4 and got 65K on the ceramics I put on. My brother owns a 04' F-150 Scab FX4 and just got the bill for $500 to replace front and back brakes at 30K miles. I have an 04 E-150 work Van that we have changed out every 15K miles. I also have, personally, a 06 FX4 Screw with 15K and the brakes have little wear and an 06 E-150 van with 34K and brakes still look good. I am sure there are posts with this so sorry for reposting but it seems the 04' has major brake problems and they seem to be fixed now but curious if this is just my opinion, and the dealers in my area.
Truck owners use their rigs in so many different capacities, that its tough to get a single answer to this question. Boulevard cruisers will have better life than contractor rigs with trailers. I have 20k on my brakes so far, with no real issues.
Ford replaced my front brakes, rotors, and calipers at 24000 miles with the new upgraded heavier version. Now at 37000 miles I just had to replace my rear rotor and pads! (There was nothing left of them and the rotors where blue!)
My '05 only has 4500m on it, but I noticed that I get a lot of brake dust on the rims. So I'm guessing that these factory pads wont last long. Also a few weeks ago, after pulling into the driveway and starting to give it a bath, I noticed the front tire/rim/caliper assemblies were quite hot, and almost sizzled when the water first hit it. Is this normal? dont feel any drag or noises when on the road.
i have a 01 F150 with 90,000 and origional brakes on it yet....it's a 5 speed so that helps but it's a lot of miles for the origional brakes....i'm good until then end of this summer too...
