I recently rebuilt the E4OD on my neighbors 96 F350. Everything went well and the tranny is shifting fine. But told me that his fuel economy went from 18MPG to 14MPG. Talked to a tranny man and he said something about having the PCM reflashed. Does anyone know anything about this? The guy I talked to is a Chevy man (sorry for the dirty word). He won't mess with Ford's trannies. If anyone has any info, gimmie a reply. Thanks
My truck gets about 10,000 miles on my 6637 air filter, then the mileage goes to crap. You might want to check yours, because this will effect mpg alot. Jcab

Don't forget...ULSD is being used now. We have it in Idaho. If you have it in your area, you'll see a drop in mpg. I went from 16.5 mpg average to 15 mpg average.
This was after having ALL of the fluids replaced (I have a lifetime oil and filter change), new tranny filter, and new air filter. This was bumper-to-bumper fluid replacement. Installed two new batteries, too.
Using ULSD means a decrease in power and a decrease in mpg.
Thanks for the info, guys. I did a complete make over on this vehicle. K&N af, 4" exhaust, new turbo. I forgot about the winter blend fuel. May try a tranny shop for reflash. Thanks again.
I am not exactly sure. That is what I am trying to find out before I tell this guy to go get it done. I do know it is expensive. I also forgot about the low sulfur diesel fuel. I was hoping that someone had it done and whether it made a difference.
Is it possible that your torque converter is not going into lock-up for some unkown reason. This would only be a few houndered RPM difference but would bea night and day difference on your milage
