First off, I would like to say that I LOVE this site. I have found so much useful information that has helped with my truck immensely. One of the issues has been the 1500-2000rpm drone issue. I took my truck, which is a 2003 F-250 PSD, to the dealer and had them take a look to see if they could find the 'drone'. At first they said they didn't hear/feel it. So I got some info off this site, and took it to them. They said they will go ahead and replace the turbo pedestal and A-brace??? They called the next day, and said they had broke off some bolts in the turbo, so they would have to get me a new one.
Next day, all installed, I go to pick up the truck, and no more drone. I am very pleased, to say the least. About a week later, I started to feel the same drone, but now it is down at the 1000-1300rpm range.
My question(s) are: obviously, has anyone who had the pedestal and brace replaced experienced this? Is this drone caused from the same issue, or something different? Any ideas on where to start looking for a solution for this? I have read things about re-aligning/re-tightening the exhaust system, and I will give that a try, also.
It may just need the y-pipe unloaded. This can be done by loosening the y-pipe to exhaust manifold bolts and the v-band clamp at the turbo, and re-tightening. Make sure nothing is rubbing first.
Thanks for the idea and description of 'how to'. I will not pretend that I know where/what the y-pipe is, but I will do some research to find out. It doesn't sound like a real complicated procedure. Thanks again.
