So, i've got the mbpr 4" exhaust, guages, and the 6637 filter
I just got the computer code so i can get the jody tipton chip. I'm planning 80 econo, 120, 140... etc etc.
Here's the thing, i've got a 2000 rated at 235. From my understanding, this means i've got forged interntals.
I'd really like to park this thing, put on my chip, and a few other toys, and get ~400 rwhp.
My question to you is: WHAT TO BUY?
New Turbo? New Injectors? Regulated Fuel system? Water/Meth?
I'm going to have some drinks and dinner with my GF. By the time i get back, i want a wish list that will create the devil of a truck. This is what i'm doing tonight... blowing some money.
Before you make your dream truck, remove the inspection plug on the rear of the block next to the oil filter housing and make sure you have forged rods. You'll see studs with nuts on the forged units and bolts with the PMR's.
That said, if I wanted big power I would lay a good foundation first.
Dual HPOP.
Regulated fuel return, Hutch mod, and an oversize fuel pump. This is very important. You can have all the tuning and big injectors in the world, but it will all be for naught if the fuel system cannot keep up. You'll get great low end power with a ton of coal black smoke and then it will fall on it's face.
Big turbo. Ton of choices, I don't know enough in this dept. to make any recommendations other than the .87 stocker that Ford put in is way too small for what you want. It works great for stock tune, but anything more than that it's too restrictive.
Sky's the limit on injectors.
Transmission. With all this new found power, your tranny won't last a month.
Make an appointment with Brian's truck shop now and get it over with.
Well, yes you have Forged rods. Be prepared to spend a devilish amount of money if you want that power. I have a list of mods you can do in order, but it's like a basic mod list, it doesn't include turbo or injectors, transmission or things like that. Here is the link, read my long-*** post in that thread.
After you get those done, come back and we can get involved in the injector, turbo, transmission and big Oil things. Those are all supporting mods that make the major power-adders work alot better
stage 2 injectors
BTS dual HPOP
VAN turbo or QSSB from WOP or H2E from WOP.
fire ring kit
hypermax intercooler
stage 2 water/meth inject.
propane inject. 80 shot.
FASS fuel system
stage 2 injectors
BTS dual HPOP
VAN turbo or QSSB from WOP or H2E from WOP.
fire ring kit
hypermax intercooler
stage 2 water/meth inject.
propane inject. 80 shot.
FASS fuel system
that sounds like 400 RWHP on a 140 tune, maybe more.
I think you'd only need the injectors, turbo, and possibly headstuds for 400hp. It doesn't take much with injectors. WIth all that running together at full-force, that's damn near 500rwhp.
Do the fuel system mods Kwik referred to. You need those. Jody does need to tune for specific injectors and any HPO big oil, so if that is your plan you need to have it before ordering , otherwise you will be getting new tunes.
Now you can look at Strokin_it's mod list and do most of that, along with a clutch upgrade, and really be scooting along well under 400hp but that is really plenty for most. It has to be felt to be appreciated, and I don't have a DP, rather a TS. If you want to be king of the hill, you will pay dearly and even then, you may or may not need those studs. What is your ultimate purpose/use of the truck?
headstuds @ 750!!! i never knew bolts could be so expensive.
Does jody need to tune specifically for injectors?
Kwik, by oversized fuel pump, do you mean hpop, or electic fuel pump. if electric, which one is recomended?
I mean something like an Aeromotive. It's twice the size of the stocker fuel pump. PLENTY of fuel volume.
WOP = Wide Open Performance. They have one of the most wicked trucks out there.
A view from inside thier truck.
