mobile 1 syn. reusable?
i have a 2000 3.0 4x4 xlt. auto. 85000. and for the past 7-8 oil changes, i have done my own. however the last 5 i have used synthetic, the first time i used the royal purple oil. and used a mobile 1 oil filter ($10) and thought, if the oil last much longer, why not instead of buying a whole new 45-55$ worth of stuff for oil change, just buy another mobile 1 filter and only change that. but leave the oil in the engine. i know those filters get pretty much EVERYTHING out of your oil. since its synthetic it shouldnt break down as fast. so i got about 8000 miles from that. now i am using mobile 1 synthetic EP which says it can last 15000 miles. most people will buy it and not change anything for 15000 in their car, which i think is not a good idea by far, but if i use the M1 oil and just change the filter (which is a mobile 1) every 4-5000 (but only doing this 2x), then that should be ok....right? also i use that "5 minute engine flush" stuff to get everything out...does that work? or just a waste of 4 bucks? havent had any problems, and it runs fine. but just hoping this is a way to get synthetic oil for half the price buy running 2x-3x as long. -thanks
