6.0 Edge/Attitude Programmer

I have a 2004 F250 with a 6.0 in it. I am looking at putting a edge and attitude controller in the truck. How many people out there have them and are they really worth the money? Does it void the factory warrenty? Please give me any feedback about them. Thanks!

You'd be much better off with an SCT programmer. Any programmer can void your warranty--read your owners manual. Call one of the guys at Long Island Performance Diesel and they can give you the facts straight up.

I started with an Edge Juice Platinum. I now have an SCTand wish I hadn't bought the Edge first. I ended up selling it for half what it cost. I LOVE the SCT. More power and WAY better tranny control.

As for warranty, if they find out you have it, they'll more than likely say you blew your warranty. With the Edge, it'll be hard to hide compared to the SCT. The Edge taps into the factory computer using basically a bypass. You unplug two plugs from the factory computer and plug the edge into them and the factory plugs into the Edge. The techs will most likely be able to tell you've done that. Also, it's just a pain to take out before going in for service.

The SCT just plugs into the OBD under the dash and flash programs the computer. Easy to hide. Plug it in and flash back to stock and leave the unit at home. Get done at the dealer, hook it back up, flash it, and have fun.

Where did you guys get your SCT and about how much did you pay for it? Also, if you leave it plugged in can it monitor the engine like the Edge can? I searched for it in google, but I think that I am finding ones for gas engines...but not sure. Thanks for all your help so far...I am glad I checked here instead of just getting and Edge...

The SCT is a programmer that plugs into the OBD port and reflashes the PCM. You will still need to buy a good set of gauges to keep an eye on things.

I have the Edge Juice with Attitude in my 04' PSD and I love it. Not saying the SCT is not better, but I like the on the fly controls and the read out display.

I had it about a month and a half and have settled at level 2 with Low boost fueling to "most responsive' I do not drive my truck like I stole it, just nice and easy, but when you need some speed, it is right there.

So far I have never seen a EGT over 840, and gas MPG has jumped about 3 compared to running it on 0 ( stock)

I would like to give the SCT a try, but happy enough with the Edge.

Warranty?? Not sure, I will leave mine if if it goes for service. If you abuse your truck with a tuner and melt the turbo, why should Ford pay for it? Just my $.000002

I agree with the others, IMO the SCT is the best programmer you can buy, for power and reliability. I got mine from Eric at Innovative Diesel, with: aggressive tow/turbo brake, street, and xtreme race tunes. I paid $850 out the door for mine, with the guages (pyro, tranny temp, boost), "A" pillar guage pod and the Xtreme race tune ($100). For warranty work, you can just flash the computer with the SCT, back to stock, in a couple of minutes. Heres the link http://innovativediesel.com

Sorry to sound like a FNG, but is SCT a SuperChips product? If not, what is it?

Thanks..........

SCT is www.sctflash.com they are not associated with superchips microtuners.

ECA--you're much more likely to damage your truck with the EDGE than the SCT. You'll melt pistons long before you melt the turbo as the melting point is higher for the impeller. You'll do much more turbo damage running that CAI than the SCT will ever do. If you're only seeing 840 for EGT's then you have the probe in a strange place and you're asking for coking problems in your turbo. The stock ford program runs hotter than that. 1250 won't come close to hurting your motor--you need the heat to keep it clean. I guess shift on the fly is ok for some people but I see no use in it. I have one program I do virtually everything with from towing to racing. It's a matter of common sense with the right foot. 6.0L's need worked--not pitty puttered around in--you're just asking for problems.

NP Partsman,

Thanks for the comment. I drive the truck really easy though, at prolonged idle the EGT cools to around 250 with a warm engine. At normal highway speeds it runs about 650. If I go up a long hill at, or about 2500 rpm she will warm to 820 or so.

I admit, I am far from a tuner expert but would like to learn more. The power and response is good, but I will rip the thing out and throw it in the trash if I thought I was causing harm to my truck. I plan on my 5 yr old driving it to highschool.

Send me a PM with your #, and I will give you a call. Thanks.
