I was using a oversized wire wheel on one of our Makita kunckle eaters. and like a idiot of course I stuck my left hand in the wheel.
No big deal but it is right on my knuckle on my left index finger.
So of course since no bandaids will stay on for more then 5 minutes of shop work I tape up my finger with electrical tape. and since it is right on my knuckle it don't look any more healed then it did 5 days ago.
I guess next time wears gloves but then less control over the grinder and I had to use the oversized wheel to get the corners. Urgh.
That`s gotta hurt and even worse in the cold weather. I know, I`ve done it and it didn`t feel nice.
Duct tape sticks alot better than electrical tape, Red Green would approve.
Try a set of padded gloves like nascar teams use. My company started actually supplying(if they want) these to any one who uses grinders or impacts. They are a tight fitting synthetic leather and padded to reduce vibrations. They do not hinder control at all. Try a bandaid and wrap with medical tape-sticks very well.
I have a nice scar on my index finger on my left hand from a bench grinder. It leaves quite the divot when you slip and touch your finger. I could see the bone after, but it could have been worse.
