This has to be normal. When coasting down.....

.... and the RPM's hit 2k or so the engine gets real quite like its off, then once it his 1k the engine come back to life. This has to be normal. But what and why does it do it?

ya its normal, i believe the injectors shut off around 1200 when ur not on the gas to most likely conserve fuel. mine does it and so does my brothers.

There is a coast clutch in the transmission. When you get below 40 mph, the coast clutch opens and the engine goes to idle. It is part of the PCM program and can be changed with a chip. DP Tuner does a real good job with this feature.

Yeah I wondered about that on my truck. was told it was an interantional (motor)thing to conserve Fuel or some thing, while not under load (coasting) some where around 1300 rpm's. kinda weird if your not used to it. I know I was freaked cause I just bought the truck and thought some thing was wrong. lol
