I need some of the expertise that constantly displayed here on this bulletin board. What is this little part called. It attaches to the Actuator rod it’s semi circular in design and made of pot metal. I’ll try and attach a picture. Any info or part # would be useful.
cant tell from your photo, but I think you are referencing the turn signal canceling cam. (is this because your turn signals dont turn off after you complete a turn?)
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 11-Dec-02 AT 12:58 PM (EST)]The part that I'm referring to is the part that the acuator attaches to, it's the part that actully pushes the rod that attaches to the ignition switch that farther down the column.
I need it because at this moment, my ignition switch is off the column and I'm starting my truck with a screwdriver.
I am sitting here racking my brain trying to recall what the part is called. My brother had this same piece snap in his 88 F-250. He had to do the same thing (turn the key on then pop the hood and jump the solenoid contacts). I called him just now and he doesn't recall either but said that removal was't all that difficult and he just took it to the local Ford dealer and they had about ten of them on the shelf. Evidently not the most well engineered component to leave the Ford drafting tables.
If the part you are referring to is the aluminum piece that has the small pin at the top of it that attaches to the ignition switch rod, then it's the "ignition actuator" and it happens to be the part that broke on my 90 Bronco yesterday.
