I have noted that my mileage has drop from about 17 mpg to about 13 1/2 this winter is this normal? I am out of Toledo,Ohio Took notes of this when the tempture head into the 30dg range

Considering your in Ohio I am almost going to guess they switch to Winter Diesel up there.. I've heard it give horrible gas mileage until they switch back to regular Diesel..
I live in NH and used to own a trucking co. before retirement, so fuel was certainly a BIG part of our expenses. With that being said, we used to hate winter. Winter fuel is usually cut up to 50% with kero in the northern tier to prevent problems. Kero only produces a fraction of the BTU's and lighter viscosity that #2 does,so thats why the drop.
Before the new laws on died fuel and low sulpher, It was very common for truckers to use #2 heating oil with power service added to prevent jelling or other cold weather problems. You could save Thousands in the winter monts by doing this, although i don't reccomend it now !!!!!!!!!
