4.2l codes question

Hi,

Three days after buying a 02 F150 e/w a 4.2l and auto combination the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. I stopped by AZ and had them drop the codes for me yesterday and they found P1157, p1131, p0171 & p0174. After checking in this forum I learned that the indications were of a lean condition and probably meant an air intake or vacuum problem.

This morning I starting looking around and found the filter cocked in the housing. Hoping the problem might be this simple I straightened the filter and disconnected the battery for about 20 minutes. When I started the truck up the "Service Engine Soon" light was out. I then drove the truck about 150 miles and the light did not come back on.

My question is, have I fixed the problem or just masked it. My assumption is if the problem still exists the light would come back on. Is this correct?

Thanks,

Certain faults will require two consecutive drive cycles before turning on the SES light.

Give it a couple of days...

The light will probably be back...

NUTS!

I was feeling quite proud of myself for having fixed it so easily. In truth however, I kind of expected a response like this.
