I have had the check engine light on for a while now and I put a reader on it and it said egr I think way back when. I finally got around to getting parts so I put the code reader on it first and it gave me the PO171 and PO174 (bank 1and 2 too lean. The truck has also died twice at idle but starts again fairly easy. Could my problem be the fuel pump or pressure? I have put fuel pumps on before and this seems weird to me. thanksIt also drives pretty good but has got crap gas mileage ever since the light came on.

An open egr valve will make it die or idle bad and give lean condition. But the gas mileage should be OK.
Bad or oil/carbon covered O2 sensors can give a lean error and this would make it run rich and give bad gas mileage.
Maybe I should of fixed the egr a long time ago. I think that made the o2 sensors go to hell. Ill try to get to that this weekend. Fixed the worn out slip yoke, bushing and seal today. Easy, but i did have the shop press that bushing for me. I like hammers too much.
