Does anyone have trouble with their inner tie rod ends?I have a 98 F150 4wd with the 4.2 5 spd.I use it for work and not very hard on it.I have replaced the idler arm once and the inner tie rod ends 3 times.Any ideas on what to check? Thanks!
Part brand maybe? My 01 F150 SC has everything stock with 113K, but it's a 2wd. Are you using a brand that can be greased when you do you're lube-oil-filter? Mooge is a good brand, cost more than a parts place house brand, and for a personal vehicle, I beieve is lifetime warranty.
I tried Moog. They were the second pair.My mechanic put on a set from Autozone with a lifetime warranty.I don't know what brand they are. We'll see how they work.No one seems to have any other ideas. So I'll keep trying.thanks for the input!
I get them greased regularly. And I check them a lot.A few years back I got a letter from Ford about checking the inner and outer tie rod ends.I saw in a forum back then that someone wrote that there is something wrong and this is how Ford got out of a recall by putting the responsibility on the owner.I don't know if that's true, but I make sure to check them often.
On my 2001, they are sealed...and every major shop in the area says that it's a dealer only repair...some special tool that no one carries...but they can take the whole rack out and get to them that way...uhh, no thanks.
stealership says my inner AND outers are shot on my 92k mile F150.
