Sorry I wasn't specific, what are the differences in chamber size and valves? When were the dual heads introduced? What were the cam specs for the respective heads?
ok now i have a question for this guy does the wiring change much from the 86 2.3 4 plug to the 89 2.3 with 8 plugs you see i just pulled the 89 motor and i want to put it in my 86 i have the wiring harness and the comp but do i really have to change all of that or can i just change portionsof the harness
if my memory serves me right....
there was
round port
d port
and oval port heads
I raced these for a few years in stock form they can turn 6800 all night
with a few mods they can run 10000 rpm all night
there are so many aftermarket part for these it is crazy (like a 350 for chevy)
you need to list what you are doing with this motor there is power in the heads of these motor's a little porting polishing and shaving the head and they will scream!!
bryrykim I have heard of people just not hooking up the other 4 plugs and just hooking up the wiring harness the head is the only differnce on this motor.
6800rpm bone stock? The tach in my Rustang redlines at under 5 grand; do I ignore that, and just let it wind? I am in the throes of deciding whether to rebuild the 2.3, or to just pitch in the 3.8 I have in the shop and get on with it... If I can get a reliable six grand out of it with power all the way to there, I will do the 2.3.
yep 6500 to 6800 all I had in it was a stock roller cam out of a 93 block a adjustable cam gear... and a carb of a 400 m... what you have to do is get a pinto intake take the spacer off it and get a thick gasket you can bolt a motocraft or a holley 350/500 cfm carb on it it willl screaaaaaaaammmmmmm. for a 4 banger..that's why I want a pinto that is not rusted and has a clear title I have a few but a rust bucket....
Hah. Good info, now all I gotta find is a dead Pinto...
Being old, I rely on carbs, simply because I understand them. I know there are lots of guys who will tell me that FI is the only way to go, but I don't feel I have the time to learn a "new" system...
If I do go carbs, I will likely have a new intake cast up to handle the pair of 2" SUs on there; I really understand SUs!
Have I got a question.Does anybody out there know if the ford LSG423 industrial engine(2.3L also),uses any of the same parts as the auto and trucks do.Thanks.
