Question 347 questions

I was recently thinking I was going to rebuild my 71 302 pretty much stock with a four barrel and headers. I recently fount what I thought was to be a good deal on a 347 rebuild kit from northernautoparts.com. Last year I was talking to an engine rebuilder and he said something about the main caps messing up or something to that sort on 347 stroked stock engine blocks. I was wondering if this was usually caused only when someone is reving there motor to 6 or 7000 RPMs often. I was only going to use mine for daily driver use you know, yeah sure maybe play alittle at a stop light or 2 but not flat out drag racing at the strip. I know that the earlier 302's had thicker castings and all, I have a 71 model block which is thicker. Would a 347 kit work fine in my block or would I have issues with main caps and such?

347 are pretty solid if you build it right for the hp you want to make. make sure the piston ring does not intersect the piston pin. Many kits still have that design and they tend to burn oil.

Do you think since Im only going to be putting a mild cam in it(comp cams .456" lift) and honestly not going to be reving it close to 5000 rpms...do you think I could honestly get 100,000 miles on it?
