my 03 crew 4x4 has a new noise. when i hit a bump it sounds like something is loose . sounds like it is coming from driver side front wheel. also you can feel something bumping the floor when you here this sound. is it the ball joints? anybody know?
mine was doing the same thing and it was the swaybar end link bushings. to check it, grab hold of the swaybar at one end and see in you can move it side to side.
All three of the super duties I have had made that noise. All three times its been the sway bar bushings. Not the end links, but the bushings where the sway bar attaches to the axles. Its a very cheap easy fix and i would definetly start there. In my experience ball joints have to be VERY shot and borderline dangerous to even drive to make that kind of noise. Oh, the other thing is you can't really tell if they are shot or not. There usually isn't any play in the sway bar, and they will look fine, but all three times I've replaced that first and no more noise. Hope that helps
