relay failures

My PCM relay and my Fuel pump relay failed within two days of each other on my 2005 ranger; 2.3L engine. Do you think an additional problem can be causing the failures. Any ideas? Thanks for your imput.

What do you mean by they failed?
Was the coils open, contacts stuck closed or what?

I think the contacts were stuck because we tested them with 12v and from the sound coming from the relay it did not open. After puting in new relays the truck started. Before the PCM relay was replaced the engine made no sound when the key was turned. Two days later when the fuel pump relay went the engine tried to turn over but could not. It started after a replacement fuel pump relay was installed.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

I would say you are drawing too much current though these two relays.
If I were guessing I would say your "Fuel Pump Driver Module" or the "Fuel Rail Pressure Transducer Sensor" is the bad item.
It could also be the Fuel Pump itself but I would look to see if the fuel pressure is too high first.

If these relays are next to each other, you could also have a corrosion problem in the sockets. I am wondering if you put one or the other old relays back in, if they would work. If they do, it may have been a bad connection down in the socket.

Note that the contacts on these two relays are in series with each other and they supply all the power to the "Fuel Pump Driver Module" and then on to the fuel pumps, all in series.

Thanks for your help. How do you check if the fuel pressure is too high. If it is a bad connection in the socket do you know of a way to clean it out. Where do I fined the Fuel Pump Driver Module or the Fuel Rail Pressure Transducer Sensor. I am in a remote area in Mexico and finding a good machanic is a problem.
Thanks

Put a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail.

If it is a bad connection in the socket do you know of a way to clean it out.
You should be able to visually eyeball the socket to see if that's the case. It it's really bad, you may be able to take it apart and clean it.

Where do I fined the Fuel Pump Driver Module or the Fuel Rail Pressure Transducer Sensor
Don't know about the last question.

I do not have information on the 2.3 Ranger but Ford usually use the same line of fuel components on all lines of its trucks of the same year.
So I will make an assumption that they are the same on the Ranger as the F150.
If so the Fuel Pump Driver Module in on the fuel tanks and the Fuel Rail Pressure Transducer Sensor is on the engine.
I can post a diagram of the Fuel Rail Pressure Transducer Sensor on the 2005 4.6 if that would help.
Good Luck
