I've been wondering... can the AFE "torque tube" work as a replacement for the stock 7.3L air intake tube in conjunction with the 6637 filter? If not, is there some other manufacturer making one that will fit the 6637?
I knew that I had seen something at one time or another... and that's it. However, I already have a new 6637 filter and only need the tube itself. Think they'd sell just the tube and associated clamps?
give them a call and find out... even if they dont sell just the hardware minus the filter, at least you dont have to worry about getting a new one for the next filter change.
it looks pretty easy to build, i was able to fit my existing tube over the 6637 flange and clamp it down and it fits... it was an interesting time, 2 guys with liquid soap trying to get that darned tube over the 6637 flange, but we got it.
i tried to put a piece of 4 inch pvc pipe on both ends, it makes for a cleaner and easier install, but i couldnt get the hood to close properly.
Here's a pic of my install. I ended up using a short piece of 4" exhaust pipe for the transition. I got the OEM intake hose over the filter end and clamped it, but one week later it had come loose again, so I went ahead and used the pipe transition.
I just want to get rid of all those ripples in the intake to get a smoother aiflow now that more air is coming in.
First do the ccv mod then when you have removed the ccv return bracket(that hard metal ring inbetween the intake tube and the turbo tube) then get your silicone boots and measure from turbo boot down to 6637, then go to BIG truck shop, maybe one over off of oxmoor rd or downtown, and ask for a 4" SS pipe with a 45* bend(premade they don't bend em there) in what ever length you need. You could also us chromed steel exhuast tube, Aluminzed would definatley look dull, and untreated steel will rust( unless you paint it).
I am also looking into doing this as soon as I reroute the ccv.
I don't know, but I do know that when I running at a nicelittle clip and have to stop rather quickly, as soon as I pop my foot off the accelerator, you can hear this huge scuking noise coming from under the hood... even with the windows up and the stereo playing.
Thanks, Brandon. That's exactly the detail I was looking for. You think the BIG truck shop might also have the silicone boots?
the silicone boots are a good idea, i just chopped up the factory intake ends and clamped a piece of 4" in there with the honking *** 6637 filter on the end, works good and no leaks,
Don't have alot of miles since my 6637 mod, but I was able to remove the stock air intake and put the filter on the ground, allowing me to slide the intake down onto the 6637. Worked great since the 6637 was on my concrete driveway. Had a solid backing to press against. Re-installed the intake tube with 6637 attached and now I to enjoy that nice "whoosh" evry time I let up on the diesel. :-)

Maybe, If not, the International dealer up there would. If you can't find them there I reamember one of our sponsors had them, It was either ITP, or Dieselmanor, I bet Mark up there in TENN also has them.
